Rapid healing with novel wound dressings

Leverkusen. Bayer Innovation GmbH – a subsidiary of Bayer AG – has developed a leading-edge technology for the manufacture of wound dressings based on silica gel fibers. A pilot plant to manufacture the bioresorbable dressings was recently inaugurated in Leverkusen. The new process gives Bayer access to one of the most promising future markets in the field of medical technology. Accelerated wound healing – particularly where large-area, slow-healing lesions are concerned – is a segment with a very high unmet medical need that is therefore likely to offer outstanding business potential for innovative products.
